An Extraordinary Venture.
Gisboene, May 6 A troupe of ten Poverty Bay Maoris will leave next week by the steamer Turakina for England. Mrs Howie (Princess Te Rangi Pai) is to sing before the King shortly nnd has asked for natives f.o be sent to give hakas on tho occasion. The natives will be absent twelve months. It is understood that the Government will defray their expanses. Wellington, May 8 The Government stale that the message from Gisborne to the effect that the Government iii paying the expenses of a haka troupe to England, ia not correct. The tour is a private speculation.
