Mr P. M. Newton, of Henry Hughes' office, 183 Hereford Street, Christchurch. Patent Agent, sends us the following illustration of an acetylene gas generator, patented by Mr Hyde, of Ashburton.
The mechanism is all arranged within the tank, and ia submerged m the water, which is supplied, when necessary, to the retort through an ingenious cut-off arrangement. Thus, any back pressure or leaks from tho retort pipes will be received within the gasholder.
