A meeting of householders of the Longbeach School District was held in the Schoolroom on Monday evening. There was a fair attendance. Mr Watson was voted to the chair. He then read the report of Mr H. C. Lane, Commissioner for the past year. This was of a satisfactory nature. The finances were in a sound condition, the credit balance being £15 0s 7d. The report was received and unanimously adopted. The matter of a superannuation scheme for teachers was then introduced, and Mr Gollins moved, and Mr F. cSoal seconded, " That ia the best interests of education, the establishment of a fund for the superannuation of aged and infirm teachers is an urgent necessity." The motion was carried unanimously. The election of a new Committee was then proceeded with, and the following were declared elected :—Messrs Patrick Prendergast, R. Magford, N. March, J. Jama, P. Soal, T. Gollins, and W. D. Dawson. At a subsequent meeting Mr N. March was elected Chairman of the new Committee. The Committee agreed to meet on the first Saturday of each month at 7 o'clock, and Mr Gollins wa3 authorised to sign cheques with the Chairman. The meeting closed with a vote or thanks to the chair.
