Ashburton Stock Market.
There was a fair attendance of buyers at the Ashburton Saleysmh this afternoon. The entry comprised between 5000 and 6000 shet-p ond 50 head of cattle. Biddin? m all clnsees of cattle was very slack, and beef showed a further drop, averaging 18s to '22s tidper 1001 b;?. Good fat cattle met with a fair eale but store linos ware nearly all passed m at auction. The fat sheep pens were filled with better quality sheep than at late sales, the store pens beinst filled principally with crossbred ewes of second quality. Generally speaking bidding was very slack all round. Prices were as follows:— Cattle—Store Cattle — Dairy Cows .£1 15s, £2 17s 6d, 153, £ Ass; calves 14*; dry cows .£4 2s 6d; two year sorts £2 12s 6d, one year sorts £1 17s 6d.
