Land Tenure.
The .- I'rpgreasiv.e Liberal Association, Ohristchurch, is obtaining signatures to ihe following petition to the Government: —" To the Kight Honourable Itiehard John Seddon, P. 0., L.L.D., Premier of the colony of New Zealand, and ihe other members of the Executive .of the Government thereof: —Thi3 petition of the undersigned electors of the said 0 jlony humbly prayeth - That your Executive will promote the following reforms in the land laws of the colony :— (I) That no further sales of Crown lands be permitted j (2) that all lands hereafter teased shall be subject to periodical mvaluaion. We respectfully ask that these propositions may be submitted to the oonsideration of Parliament, and that, if •ejected by either House, you will make an Appeal to tjhe country on them, and we pledge ourselves individually and collectively by means of our votes and influence, to endeavour to secure the return of canlidates who will support the Government in these reform?." It is proposed to issue about 3000 copies of the petition.
