MR THOMAS AND THE TEACHERS
TO THE EDITOB.
Sir, — I cannot allow " Teacher "or any one else to try and put words into my mouth which I never uttered, and therefore am forced to reply to his silly effußion appearing m last Saturday's issue, and trust that no further correspondence will be expected from me on this subject. " Teacher," after apologising m a very lame manner to Mr Cow for several blunders he had made relating to football matters, turns" with renewed vigor to his attack upon me, and sayß " I unhesitatingly assert that Mr Thomas did say teachers and parsons, and by doing so. he insinuated that they were milksops." I just as unhesitatingly assert that I never used Buoh words, and that the words I used had no such meaning, and .therefore one of us must be telling falsehoods, and it is not me. I can prove by many witnesses (every one I have spoken to on the subject says the same as I do) and by manuscript, what I did say. Can " Teacher " prove what he says ? Or is he. prepared to swear that he was at the concert at all ? I don't think he was, Adi under no other hypothesis can I understand his bringing so unfounded a -charge against me. Bald assertion is no proof, and I now call upon "Teacher" to substantiate his statement, as I cannot .allow the matter to stand m its present unsatisfactory position. I am, etc,
D. Thomas,
