MOUNT HOMERS.

The monthly meeting of the Mount 86niers Road Board wu held oo Monday. Present — Messrs Peache (chairman), Mood, Harmon, Chapman, and JicCjrmipk. OTEBSIRK'S KEPOftT. The overseer's report was read and considered. Gorge Road.—The overseer was instructed to call tenders for ploughing the tussnck off the edge of the shingle from Doak's upwards, about 2$ miles, Mr Lambie interviewed the Board, and atked that the part foimrd near his house last year be shingled.—Resolved that the work could not be be undertaken this year. Mr Milne interviewed the Board with regard to the Downs rc\-d and asked that a parb be shingled near' thV^**t^, cutting.—lt was resolved to shingle about ten chain* in the worst places, and tenders were ordered to be called for the work. MO. 1 WARD. Mr McCormick moved the resolution standing in his name that the No. 1 ward be divided into two tor financial purposes, taking the north Ashburton river as the boundary on the oue side, and Taylor's J stream on the other, so as to include the whole of the Winterslow Run. After some discussion it was resolved to hold a special meeting on Monday, August 21, to fully, discuss the matter, and the clerk was ordered to advertise the meeting, and invite the ratepayers interested to attend. The clerk was also instructed to get advice as to what steps were necessary for : part of the district to separate and join > another Board, and whether the Board ,< had power to erect toll gates. O3RBKBVONDJNCE. From Mr Donald McKenrie, asking for part of his road to be shingled.—Resolved that the work could not be done for the want of funds. From Mr UJ. G, WrfohJ;, re Gorge roada, giving his opinion that it would be useless to ask for a part of the rents from the runs to be returned to the Board for the purpose of road making.—Received. From Mr Dove, asking that the name of Milts and Co. be put on the roll for the Winterslow run.— Agreed to. From Mr A. Ed; asking that the name of Mr 0. L. Hart be put on the roll for R S. 20559.—Agreed to. From Mr & G. Tripp, asking that the name of Mr A. E, Peache be put on the roll for R.S. 4275.—Agreed to. From the Milbwn Lime Company, endosing clraular.- Received. From tha Paymaster-General, that £60 had been remitted to the Board's account for work done on the Alford Forest Village Settlement roads.—Received. — Mr dhapman applied for Mr Griers for permission to erect a gate on the. 014 Sawmill Road.—Granted. MOVKT SOMERS *THAMWAY, The Clerk was instructed to write to the Ashburton County Council to urge the necessity of re-letting the tramway aa soon as possible, as the traffic on the roads was cutting them up. Tenders were opened for the diQerenfi works advertised, and the following were, accepted :—Chas. Milne, breaking stones on the Main road, at 3s 3d per chain. A. Fox, breaking stones on Priced rotd, at 6s per chain. J. Brown, shingling near Buocleuch wool«hed, Is l£d per yard; shingling on woolshed flat, Is lid per yard ; forming near Hakatere, 5s 6d per chain.
