QUEENSLAND.

An important conference has taken place between the Premier, Mr J. M. Mackoisan, and Mr Archibald Arch, representing Southern, Northern, and Central portions of the colony. It •was decided to submit a resolution to the Legislative Assembly this session providing for complete local autonomy for the Central and Northern portions of the colony and for their forming State legislatures, comprising Upper and Lower houses. The powers of the new States are not fully determined upon, but they will include control of jlands, railways, and customs. Freetrade between the three states will be preserved. Lieu tenant-Governors will be elected by the people, and will have power to veto any bills. Their resolution, if agreed to by the Assembly, will be introduced in the form of a bill next session.
