Yesterday J. Stevens, imployed at Mr C. Chinnery's flax mill, Rangiora, was passing nboufc the mill with a. hank of tow, *rhen the tow caught on a moving belt and became entangled. Stevens received such injuries that vr Clayton recommended liia immediate removal to the Hospitial. The jnan's arm was very much lacerated, and he suffered severly from the shock. On examinaiion of. Stevens' injuries it was fouud th»i h« bad sustained compound dislocation of the wriit, besides which the arm was Wdly fractured and the elbow crushed. The injuries were of 80 severe a nature that it wm deemed expedient to amputate the forearm. Stevens is doing *s wn as might be expected under the circumstances,
