Auckland, October 20. The steamer Wainui, which returned from her island trip to-day, visited Futuina Island on the 81-h inst. Ai'chbishop Redwood, who was a passenger, landed there and conducted an imposing celebration m honor of Father Chanel, a •Catholic priest who was martyred at Futuina m 18-11. A nuinbor of bishops and missionaries of the Society of Mary, of which Father Chanel was a member, were also present. Archbishop Redwood is now at Fiji. Wellington. October 20. The express train on the WellingtoiiManawatu railway collided with a trolly m the first tunnel on the Johnsonvilie side of Khand&llah. A man named Turkington, and a lad named Hubbard, who were on the trolly, received a rather severe shaking. A second lad escaped without injury. A full enquiry is to be made into the accident by the Company.
