Messrs Miles, per Mr George Jameson, reports «is follows i-^Timvald Fortnightly Sale, Tuesday, October 7th. The entry (for the day's sale comprised about 4500 sheep arid 30 head of cattle. The demand did not appear td be quite so brisk as last week at the Ashburton Saleyards, especially with regard to crossbred ewes, with lambs at foot,' of which there were several good lines. Crossbred hoggets, of which there were several entries, brought full rates ; one line of 200, sent m by Mr Max Friedlander, deserves special mention, and ware declared by many competent judges to. be,the best lot ever penned m the Tin wait' Yards. The sheep, ,of which there were but few entries, comprised light-weight crossbreds and merino w,ethets. Our entry of 18&0 sheepwe sokt as follows :—-For Mr J. Harper, merino wethers at 10s lOd; Mr Redmayne, merino Wethers at 13s 3d ; for a client, small twotooth crossbreds at 12s 5d to 13s Bd, also crosabrcd hoggets an 12s 7d and 12s lid each; for Mr R. Luscombe, crossbred hoggets at Us Gd ; for Mr W. C. Strange, cull crossbred hoggets, 9s 9d each; for Mr' Max Fri 3(11 ander, crossbred hoggets ata 16 6d each; for Mr Dixori,' crossbred ewes, with lambs at foot, 13s 6d per couple; for Mr M. Reclmsvyhe, do at' 13s per couple, and cull merino e>ves at 3s 7d each; for Mr John Withell, crossbred couples at 14s 5d per j couple. We also sold 6 head of store cattle, good sorts, at £2 6s, and privately 38 head, mostly steers, at market rates. 500 crossbred ewes and lambs at 15s 6d.
