Dvnedin, October 7. Ati&eOity Court, before Mr Carew, ■R.M., Geo. Ryan and Thomas Dillon Charies, were charged with maltreating a man returning from free labor work on the Tekapo on Saturday. After evidence counsel withdrew the plea of not guilty, uratinW ill extenuation of the offence, that the assault was not of a serious character. Ryan was nned Lo or 14 4*vb' imprisonment, cumulative on each •ctetrge for threatening behaviour and assault. Dillon was fined £1 m each «»se, or three days. ■ .
