AUSTRALIAN

Sydney, September 25. The Taupo has arrived with a cargo of Southern coal for the use of the Union Company's steamers. The Royal Naval Home was opened to-day by Lord Carrington. There was a brilliant gathering on the occasion. A deputation representing the Australian New Hebrides Company waited on Sir H. Parkes to-day, with a request similar to those recently preferred to Mr Gillies, Premier of Victoria. Sir H. Parkes asked the deputation to send a memorial to the Government enumerating the grievances of British subjects, which he promised to forward to the Imperial Government.
