[per press association.] Auckland, September 13, News from Tahiti states that two French warships have bombarded the two largest villages m the Huahene Islands, one of the Society Group, and subdued the natives after some loss of life. At Kaiatea Island the natives refused to give m, and the warships could do nothing. At Barabora Island, which was also visited, the natives submitted at once. Hitherto they refused to acknowledge French authority.
