Wakanui Road Board.
The monthly meeting of the Wakanui Road Board was held on Saturday, Sept. 6th. Present—Messrs Bruce (chairman), Brown, Leadley, Johnston, and Megaon. CORRESPONDENCE. Leasing Gravel Reserves—From the Ashburton County Council forwarding resolution passed with reference to the leasing of gravel reserves m the district. Revenue, etc., of Board — From the ' Colonial Secretary asking to be supplied with a return of the revenue of the Board, and and amount paid for salaries and office expenses for the year ending 31at March, 1889. Tlie Clerks reported that the information had been furnished. ■ '' Alteration to Valuation Roll.—From Mr W. T, Lill, asking the Board to take his name off the roll and substitute those of Messrs Robinson and B. Hampton. Agreed to. MAINTENANCE The Clerks laid a statement showing cost j of maintenance of roads m each ward iii the district for the last two years.—Resolved " That the maintenance man be instructed to enter m his diary the number of yards of shingle put out on each day, and the pit rom which the ahingle is taken." It was decided that the Surveyors make arrangements to put on an extra team and man where a quantity of shingle is required on a road. TRACTION" ENOISES. Mr Leadley brought up the matter of the way m which traction engines with gripping irons cut up the roads, and was of opinion that before next winter the Board should take some steps to prevent the same. After tv discussion the matter dropped. UORSE NUISANCE. The officer appointed v/as instructed to strictly enforce the xlct dealing with the ! growth of gorse ou roads. ACCOUNTS.
