STOPPAGE OF FACTORIES.
Killing at Islington Works, Templeton, will be stopped on Friday. The Directors have been reluctantly compelled to take this step, because there appears to be no immediate prospect of coal being obtained for the direct steamers. Dunedin, September 8. Scoullar and Chisholmhave closed their furniture factory, throwing sixty hands out of work, as during the present struggle they are noc inclined to go ■on making a stock. Findlay and Co. have also closed their woodware factory, owing to the carters' strike.
