There was a good deal of excitement towards the finish of the match. New York* August 20. The PadrenOj 5000 tons, the first steamer from New York to Australia direct, has sailed.. I A cyclone in the State of Pennsylvania levelled 10.0 bouses, and twenty
persons were killed. It is estimated that a million dollars' worth of damage was done. Paws, August 20. By storms in France 600 houses have been destroyed, and thirty lives lost. In places where the gales' were most violent the people are camping out. The damage is estimated at a million francs.
