PROPOSED SCHOOL TEACHERS' UNION.
. At a meeting of North Canterbury teachers at Christchurch on Saturday there was some strong speaking against the want of uniformity m the school examinations due to the fads of the various inspectors, against the present system of conducting certificated and pupil teacher examinations, and the excessive cramming necessary to enable the children to pass the inspectors' examinations. Some speakers were m favor of forming a union at once, but the majority preferred to take action through the Educational Institute.
