Longbeach Road Board.
The monthly meeting of the Longbeach Koad Board was held on Monday, Preeent —Messrs Grigg (Chairman), Shearer, Horsey, and Wilson. MINUTES. Mr Wilson objected to the minutes of the Jast meeting being confirmed, as he was of opinion that notice of motion should have been given before the Board decided fco alter the place of meeting, and gave notice that he would move at next meeting, " That the Board meet once every two months, the Chairman and Suveyorsto call extra meetings if required at any time, and that the question of a smore central place of meeting be coniflidfyred at next meeting of the Board," The minutes were confirmed as read, CORE .ESPONDKN CB. Poisoned grain : From the Ashburton County Council, asking the Board if any of last year's poisoned grain was left. The clerks reported that they had replied to the letter.—Subsidy: From the Property Tax Commissioner advising the Board pf the payment of balance of subsidy fov 1689-90.— Road along Raihvay Line-; Tr<m Mr W. 0. Walker, M.H.R., in .answer to the Chairman's letter re maintenance of road along railway lino, and drainage of land. auRVB-yoits' report. The Suveyors' Report was read as follows :-— Contracts « The contractors tor deepening drain on Ford's Road, and making drain and forming track on Windermcre Road are making good progress with their respective contracts. Surveyor** Road : As instructed at last meeting we are having a piece of this road near the Hinds river formed and shingled. The work will hn completed in a day or two. Maintenance: The day man ha* bepn employed in repairing Boundary, LongIwsich, und Drwhoii'm Roads, mild repairing fords on the former road, OUTSTANDING RATJto, A ballot was taken, two in each ijravd to be sued for unpaid rates, and the Clerks were instructed to take legal proceedings if tiw» amounts are not paid iby August 16. .POP-LAR KOAJ*, The Surveyors were instructed </> have v ri«e<» of Poplar Road formed, twd » culvert repaired.
