London, July 31. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,164,000 quarters, find for the Continent 584,000. The American visible supply is 1,840,000 bushels. The English wheat market shows an advance of 6d, Continental is firm, and American has an upward tendency. Silver—4s 2£d per oz, , Bank rate of discount is 5 per cent. A hundred and fifty thousand sovereigns have been withdrawn for the Cape and Soutii America, and further large exports are expected. Debentures of the Argentine States are m good demand. Frozen meat is unchanged. New Zealand beef, hind quarters 3|d, fore quarters unchanged. The total amount of reserve m the Bank of England is £12,030,000. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 29 per cent. The market rate of discount is 4f per cent. Money is m active demand.
