Wellington, July 31. The principal amendments made by the Stock Committee m the Sheep Bill are m connection with branding and earmarking, and m connection with the importation and removal oft sheep. As to ear-marking, ib is enac&rllthat a punch must be the only instrument used m that operation, and this must be stamped with the stamp of the Stock Department. Sheep are not to be driven between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. , Provision is made for the Governor-in-Council issuing regulations m connection with the introduction of sheep from other colonies, etc.
The number of live stock imported into the colony last year is shown by a return to have been 2238, valued at £388.
