THE AMERICAN TARIFF.
Washington, July 28, A protracted debate is taking place in the Senate on the Tariff Bill. A section of the Republican Party are supporting Secretary Blame's suggestions that sugar duties should be maintained. The "New York Herald" asserts that Mr Blaihe privately modified orders issued to American cruisers respecting the seizure of British sealers and that the Marquis of Salisbury was not informed of this action.
