Auckland, July 26. A man named John Belsham was charged at the Police Court to-day with having broken and entered the store of Garlick and Co., gum merchants, and Stolen gum valued at £4s. ■. The .base was remanded. Another man, George Rogers, was arrested to-day; charged, with being concerned m the affair. It appears that robberies have been going on for some time, and that £500 worth of :gum has been taken; <■ -' Great activity is reported on the Puhipuhi field; during: last week < fOW new holdings having been applied for and seven claims pegged out. • ' WBitiNOTdifi J«ly 36. Rogen arid Co. s poultry breeders, obtained thirteen prizes with their birds at the Sydney Exhibition. • A railway servants' grievance of some magnitude has arisen m Wellington. Last week some men at the Petone workshop* were notified that they would have to work piecework, which is said to be ft direct contravention of the agreement arrived at between the Railway Servants' Society andthe Commissioners.
