At a meeting of the Pastoral Employees' Association the manifesto of the Shearers' Union was considered, and it was determined to follow a course of defensive action, and members signed a bond to that eftect. . The report of the Chamber of Commerce urges that steps should betaken by the mercantile houses m Australasia for ;i more equitable bill of lading. Reference is made to the continuance of labor difficulties, and it is remarked that capitalists are not disposed to invest money m new industries. Gratification is expressed at the largely increasing proportion of wool sold locally, and the increased attendance of home and foreign buyers. Bbisbane, July 23. An extraordinary fatality which has occurred among horses its causing great consternation among farmers m the Laklley district. Veterinary surgeons are investigating the matter.
