As showing the extraordinary demand for animal food m. England, for the week ending May 15th no fewer than eighteen steamers arrived m i Liverpool from American and Canadian ports with cattle and fresh beef on board. They were |as follows :—The Osmanli, witli 300 cattle; the Marnoch, with 320 cattle; the Lake Huron, with 670 cattle and 956 quarters of beef; the ITtopia, with 334 cattle ; the Victoria, with 322 cattle; the Cufic, with 751 cattle; the lowa, with 755 cattle, and 2813 quarters of beef; the Lord Gough, with 1570 quarters of beef; the Endeavour, with 165 cattle; the Barrowmore, with 761 cattle; the JSTova Scotian, with 170 cattle; the Toronto, Avith 670 cattle ; the Catalonia, with 1713 quarters of beef ; the Ismailia, with 226 cattle ; the Teutonic, with 2240 quarters of beef ; the Alaska, with 1660 quarters of beef ; the Palestine, with 456 cattle and 1707 quarters of beef ; the City of Richmond, with 980 quarters of beef, making a total of 5920 cattle, and 13,639 quarters of beef,
