The Halt-Holiday Movement.
The meeting of the Early Closing Association held last evening in Mrs Pearson's rooms, Triangle, was well attended, and several matters of importance were discussed. : It was agreed that the Secretary write to Rev E. A. Scott, Mr Jenkins, and Mr Cambridge, and ask if they would kindly consent to wait upon all shop keepers and merchants in Ashburton re. the half-holiday. It was further suggested to open communication with all the Locigra and Friendly Societies in the district, asking their sympathy with the movement. The meeting then adjourned until Thursday evening.
