Ashburton Live Stock Market.
Mr D. Thomas (late of Matson, Cox, and Co,) reports upon the live stock market for the Ashburton district for the week ending July Bth, as follows :— 6n Tuesday at the Ashburton Yards I held my usual weekly sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs. The total entry for the day consisted of 4317 sheep, 23 cattle, and 12 pigs, of which I sold 2499 sheep, 14 cattle, and 12 pigs. The attendance was a moderate one, but those that were there meant business, and every line was cleared at satisfactory prices. The following were the prices realised:—Fat crossbred ewes, 11s 7d ; fat merino ewes, 6s lOd ; fat two, four, and six tooth crossbred wethers, 15s Bd. In stores—Crossbred lambs, 7s 6d, 9s 3d, 9s 4d, to 10s 7d; crossbred ewes m lamb, 8s 4d, 8s 9d, 9s sd, to 11s Id. In Pigs, £1 5s 6d, £1 9s 6d. Fat Cattle, £3 Is, £3 fa, £4, £4 Is, £4 2s 6d, £4 12s 6d; springers, £5 ; two yearlings, 18s; old cows, 5s to £1 16s.
