and discussed the difficulty carefully with them. Subsequently Captain Highman had an interview with Mr McLean, and agreed to withdraw the notice, contained m h'.s letter of Monday last, that all officers would leave their ships on the 14th inst., unless their demands were conceded. Mr McLean agreed to this, and negotiations will now be resumed m a friendly spirit. The case of Hadfield v the Public Trustee still occupies the Supreme Court. Evidence was concluded this evening, and the legal points will be argued to-morrow. The R.M.S. Arawa, from New Zealand, arrived at Plymouth on Tuesday morning with passengers all well, and cargo of frozen meat m good condition.
