At an indignation meeting, attended by 400 people, last night, a protest was made against the policy of the Railway Commifi* sioners m removing the terminal station buildings. Resolutions were passed that the proposal was a violation of the original Public Works scheme, and was a serious inconvenience to settlers. A very strong feeling exists over the matter. Wellington, July 8. The police authorities have cabled to the Sydney police requesting them to arrest Edward J. Robinson, wanted here on a charge of embezzling Government monies, and who is believed to have sailed for Sydney m the Tarawera. Dunbdin, July 8. Major-General Alexander Irvine died to-night. He had served m the Bengal Army, and on retiring came to Dunedin, where he has resided for some years. He was sixty-six years of age.
