At a meeting of members m favor of Bible-reading m schools, nine wore present -seven from the House and two from the Council. Regret was expressed at the death of the Hon. Mr Menzies, who always took a deep interest m the matter. It was decided to give general support to Mr Tanner's bill for reading the Bible m .schools. public; works statement. The Public Works Statement is ready, and will be brought down at the conclusion of the debate on the Financial Statement. It is not expected that the debate on the latter will be finished before to-night. LABOR STRENGTH. There are now fifty-three societies, representing 35,000 workmen, affiliated to the Sydney Trades and Labor Council.
