The glass is insured for £50 m the South British, and other damage is covered by a policy m the South British and Standard offices. Mr MacAlister, late Deputy Registrar of the Supreme Court, who intends to practise his profession m the North Island, was entertained to-day by members of the local bar. Fir* $""■'* Invercargill July 3. The Railway Hotel, Wyndham, occupied by John Monaghan was burnt down at three this morning. Very little was saved, the inmates escaping with but scant clothing. The building was insured for £550, and the stock and furniture for £250, both m the New Zealand offices, with re-insurance m the North German and Colonial amounting to £525. The causes of the fire was a defective chimney.
