A Nautical Decision
Timaru, July 1. An apprentice, named Lewis, on the Shaw Saville barque Glenlora, whose indentures expired on 30th April at sea, sued the captain for his discharge, and wages as A. B. from Ist April. Payment was refused on the ground that the indenture required the apprentice to " complete the voyage current at expiry of indenture." Plaintiff's counsel tended a voyage means the run from port to port, and pointed out the hardship of keeping *n apprentice, possibly m this case, nearly two years longer without pay. The R.M. ruled that "voyage" means the round run from England and home again, and nonsuited plaintiff.
