THE CABLE QUESTION.

.The Premier has received a cable* gram from Sir Graham Berry In reference to an interview, between the Agents-General and Mr ooschen in connection with the cable guarantee. It states that while Mr Goschen personally would like to meet the views of the colonies, he hesitated to create a precedent of Government subsidising cable companies. Moreover, he was afraid if the proposed arrangement was carried out, it might delay the projected Pacific cable. He promised to give further consideration to the subject before intimating the final decision of Government.
