HUNT CLUB.

A special general meeting of members 'of the Ashburton Hunt Club was held in Henry's Commercial Hotel on Saturday evening. There was a.large attendance of members, and Dr Leahy, Deputy Master, presided. A resolution was passed to hold the annual Steeplechase Meeting under the auspices of the Hunt Club, and Wednesday, August 6, was fixed for the meeting. The question of increasing the value of* the stakes was made the subject of a.good deal of discussion, but 'ultimately' the amount was fixed at the same as that offered last year, viz., £100. OFFICERS, j The following officers were appointed for the meeting: —Stewards - - Messrs J. C. Jff. Grigg, H. H. Wright, G. Buckley, G. .H. Alington, W. P. Chapman, J. Jamison, W. Rollit, H. G. Moore, D. McKendry, and Dr Leahy. Judge—Mr M. Stitt. Starter—Mr D. Thomas. Clerk of Course—Mr A.. Hewson. Clerk of Scales—Mr A". J. Kelly. Haridicappers— Dr Leahy, Mr M. Scott, and Mr W. Russell. PROGRAMME. _, The following programme of events was •adopted:—Hunters' Hurdle Race,, a handicap of 15 soys, second horse to receive 3 soys from the stake. Hunt Club Cup Steeplechase, a handicap of 30 soys, second h»rseto receive 3 soys and third horse to receive 2 soys from the stake. Hack race of -10 soys.. Maiden Steeplechase, Plate, of 15 sbvs| second horse to receive 3 soys from "the" stake. Ladies Bracelet Handicap, of 20 soys, the first horse to receive a bracelet of the value of 15.soys, the second horse, to receive a bracelet of the value of 5 soys. Consolation Handicap of 10 soys. POINT TO POINT. The meeting decided to hold the annual Point to Point Steeplechase a week after the Hunt Club Steeplechases., FANCY DRESS BALL. It was further decided to hold a fancy dress ball.
