RATEPAYERS MEETING.

The annual ratepayers meeting of the Mount Hutt district, adjourned from May sth, was held on Thursday, June 12. Present — Messrs M'Mil'an, Brown, Cameron, Hibbs, Johnstone, Alinqton and Devery. The balance sheet as audited showing receipts to have been £1149 7s lid and expenditure £658 2s Id was, on the motion of Mr M'Millan, Beconded by Mr Johnston, adopted. Mr Devery asked the Board to form the Cairnbrae Lyndhurst road, The Chairman said that the Board was willing to repair the road if the water was kept off it; at present it would be useless to do anything. After some discussion the following motion was carried: —That the Ashburton County Council be urged to make provision for the storm water from the Cairnbrae Lyndliurst road that the Road Board may be enabled form the road, as it would be throwing money away to form it under existing circumstances/ There was no other business.
