THE PRICE OF BUTTER.

TO THE EDITOR,

- Sir, —I notice in your of yesterday that butter is selling in Taranaki at from 3d to 5d per lb. Could any of your readers kindly inform me why the price in Ashburton is Is 2d to Is 3d, and that for a very inferior article to what Taranaki can produce., Ashbiirton is not an isolated township like Johannisburg in South Africa, and the matter appears to me to be inexplicable. .

Yours, &c.,

Enquirer.
