Ashburton Live Stock Market.
Mr D. Tliomas (late of Matson, Cox, and Co.) reports upon the Live Stock Market for the Ashburtoii District for the week ending June 3rd, as follows:—On Tuesday at the Tinwald Yards I held my usual sale of sheep, cattle, and pigs. The total entry for the day comprised 5798 sheep, 71 pigs, and 40 cattle, of which I sold 3844 sheep, 67 pigs, and 13 cattle. The attendance was hardly up to the average, and bidding was decidedly slack, and I must report a drop of 6d to 9d per head on sheep, and in pigs and cattle no variation. The following are the prices realised :—ln fat sheep : Crossbred hoggets, 14s Id; crossbred ewes, 10s 3d; fat merino ewes, 4s lOd to 6s 3d; turnip sheep, 12s 9d, 14s sd, to 14s 7d; merino wethers, 4a Id. In stores:. 2-too_th crossbred, 6Jif,.6d^ B*i7d,--to 9s 9d; merino ewes in lamb, 5s 6d ; boilers, 2s od to 2s lOd; pigs, £1 Is to £1 2s. In Cattle : Fat heifers, £3 10s to £4 12s 6d; cows, £4 5s ; springers, £3 2s to £3 17s 6d; yearlings, £1 10s. •. ' i:.
