The total of the Australians' second innings was 180— Trott 61, Jones and Burns 0, Turner 3, Walters 32, Ferris 12, Trumble 2. Martin secured five wickets for 61, Flowers three for 30. The M.C.C. knocked up the runs necessary to win in an hour. Shuter made 29, Grace 35, Marchant 9, Stoddart 3, Gunn not out 30. By means of hard hitting they managed to win the game a quarter of an hour- before the time^or drawing stumps. The Colonials played their ' best for a draw. Trott's innings, which occupied three hours and a quarter, was a perfect display of batting
