James Holmes was found guilty of forgery and uttering, and was sentenced to twelve .months' hard labor. Josiah White, found guilty of fraudulent bank- . ruptcy, was sentenced to six months' hard labor. William Bang pleaded guilty to stealing £32 from a Maori, and was sentenced to fifteen months' hard labor. William Piggott, accused of complicity in the same case, was acquitted.
