Mr Laverton's team, with three pickets dcnvn for 146, resumed their innings, the last wicket falling with the score at 223. W. G. Grace played a splendid innings of 64. Ferris bowled well, taking six wickets at the post of 69 runs. Turner took four for 82. The fielding pi the visitors was only medium. . The Aus tralians required 297 runs to save defeat, but in the second innings they i were all disposed of for 116. Turner j played fy brilliant innings of 47 and . Lyons made 9,4- in clashing style.
