NEW ZEALAND APPLES IN ; LONDON. [per press association] London, May 17. Apples by R.M.S. Tainui, from New. Zealand, have arrived in an inf orior condition. Owing to the high rate of freight, a syndicate of fruit merchants are arranging to charter a special steamer to bring next season's Australasian fruit to England. New Zealand cheese, 48s to 54s ; good butter, 60s to 745. (Received May 19, 12.40 p.m.) London, May 18. Adelaide wheat, 38s 6d ; Victorian, 38a 6d. New Zealand long berried. 37s 9d, f»ctive. New Zealand wheat on passage, averages 34s 6d. She New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the folloAving cable message, dated London, 16thMay:— Tallow—There is less demand for fine mutton tallow, but there is an improved inquiry for other descriptions. Fine mutton is worth 24s 9d per cwt., and good beef 24s 3n per cwt. Frozen Meat—There is rather better demand for New Zealand mutton. Canterbury is worth 4|d and Wellington 4|d per lb. Beef market dull. New Zealand forequarters and hindquarters are worth 3-£ d and 4jd per lb respectively.
