Ashburton Live Stock Market.
Mr D. Thomas late of Matson, Cox and! Co., reports upon the Live Stock Market for the Ashburton district for the week euding May 13th as follows: —On Tuesday at the Ashburton yards 1 held my usual weekly sale of sheep, cattlo, and pigs. The total entry for the day consisted of about 6500 sheep, 30 cattlo and 40 pigs, of which I sold 2261 sheep, 30 pigs, and 14 cattle. The attendance was average, I and bidding rather slow, except for sheep fit for turnips. Tho following were the prices realised. Sheep—Fat merino wethers, medium quality 5s 8d to Gs Dd ; fat crossbred ewes lls 6d and 10s ; stores 2 and 4-toolh crossbred 10s, lls 3d, lls lOd, 13s to 13s 9d ; crossbred lambs in poor condition sJh lOd ; merino ewes 2s lid to 4s ; boilers 2s 2d. Pi«s—Good stores 17s 6d to £1 3s 6d ; suckers 5s 6d ; sows in pig £1 2s, £13s. Cattle—Fat heifers, PA 12s ; steers, light weights, £4 5s ; springers, £5 ils to £5 10s.
