Speaking at a banquet at Rpckhampton, the Premier,said it was 'a serious outlook' for the 1 colony with certain agitators goincc about sowing the seeds of dissension between employees ■ and employed. If a contest were to come he thought it would be better if it came rapidly, as a disease of that sort could be better met in its first stages than' when fully, developed. Regarding federation; .Government would follow ; the course adopted by Sir Henry Parkes. He thought it probable (that ; the Budget would show a deficit for the year owing to the recent floods : and drought !
