Mount Somers Road Board.
The usual, monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Monday last, May Ist.. Present: Messrs Peach'e (chairman), Walker, Hood, Chapman, and McFarlane. The Overseer's Report was read and considerdd.
Simpson's Road: It was resolved to have tne stories picked off this Road. Graham's Road: It was resolved to shingle about 15 chains of this road. Correspondence > from the Ashburton County Council asking the Board's opinion with respects .to the efficiency of the poisoned grain supplied by the Council The Clerk was directed to reply that the grain was good if the birds would take it, but some of the members of the Board thought, 'that' if shelled: oats were used instead' of' wheat, the result would be bettei.—From the same, 'forwarding copy of electoral itfUJ and asking for the same to be bn iView at the Board's Office.— Agreed to.—From the Manager of New Zealand Alford Estate Co. asking for alterations to be made in the roll, several sections having changed, hands.—Agreed to.—rFrom, Mr P. Jollie, asking to have Mr S,,^fi'rgi^pn's "name put on the roll for sectiph/,,1.4661.—Agreed toi—From' Mrs M. Martin asking to have Mr H. Martin's name, .put on ;the roll .for section 20342.— Agreed to.—From Mr C.. Purnell forwarding transfer of cottage for signature.' Resolved that the Chairman sign the same and affix the Board's seal.
In answer to a Question, Mr A. McFarlane stated that it was his intention not to be nbmiiiated for a member at the present election. Walker-, proposed, and it was carried'unanimously, that a vote of thanks be,paseed to. Mr McFarlane for his services during the many years he has been a .member; of the Board. Mr McFarlane responded in suitable terms. Reference; was alsd made by Mr Walker to the death in Mr Peter's family, and the Chairman was 'authorised to convey the > foUowing. resolution 1:—" That the Mount Somers Road Board desire to convey to the Hon W. S. Peter and his family the Board's sincere sympathy with them in their recent bereavement.'', , . r TENDERS. Tenders" were opened for shingling on the Alforii Forest main road, and that of Mr A, Hary was accepted at Is 5d per yard. ;r ' -..■ *-- • . .
