THE SONS & DAUGHTERS OF TEMPERANCE FRIENDLY BENEFIT SOCIETY. THE Special Advantages offered by this Society are—lst, a large invested fund ; 2nd, the funeral donation being reassured by the National Division ; 3rd, a liberal relief during sickness, with choice of any doctor within the district for members and their families, and as large funeral donation as is consistent with safety. The Grand 'Division has established a Central Sick Fond, which secures uniformity of fees and benefits throughout New Zealand ; allows members to move from one division to another without any increase of contributions, and affords absolute security / to small or weak divisions, Benefit for Male Members:—First six months! sickness, 20s per week; second six months, 13s ; afterwards, 10s ; death of a member, £30; death of a member's wife, £10. Half the above benefits are received by female members. Honorary Members of both sexes shall be entitled to the services of the physician arid apothecary, providing they pass a satisfactory medical examination, and recoup to the Division the amount of fees payable by it i to those officers on their account. I

The pledge originally adopted has remained unchanged until the present time, and by it i all forms of intoxicating drinks are proscribed. The position the Sons and Daughters of Temperance occupy is a standing testimony ; of the value of Total Abstinence principles, and compares favorably with any other | Friendly Society j the sickness rate showing one-third less than that of other Societies not based on total abstinence principles; the 1 death rate being only six per thousand in the Sons and Daughters of Temperance, as against nine per thousand, th© yearly average ! death rate of other Societies. I This Order should command the support jand attention of all earnest temperance , workers, as it gives uncontrovertibte testi^ mohy of the value of total abstinence to the! health of the body; exerts a decided in- ! fluence on public opinion, and provides an opportunity for total abstainers to make provision for themselves in case of sickness, accident, or death. The Lodge meets MONDAY NEXT, 28th April, and each alternate Monday, at the Templar Hall, Ashburton, at 8 p.m. Every Total Abstainer Should Jp-in. 4 213 : W. MURRAY, Sec. '
