William Warden Couch has been sentenced to death for the murder of William Trevethick, an elderly man employed by the United Devonshire Gold Mining Company, Eaglehawk, Sandhurst, on the night of 3rd Dec. The deceased was night watchman at the mine, and Couch murdered him in order to steal plates from the quartzcrushing batteries.
