. Pabis, April 23.,, Information lias been received of an engagement between the French and Dahomeyans, in which, after two hours' fighting, the former were defeated, and retreated to Porto Noyo. The enemy pursued them half-way. The French loss was fifty wounded, but the Dahomcyans suffered severely. The king publicly commended his ti'oops for their gallant behaviour. ,
