The Victorian Loan is quoted at a premium of one per cent. k The "Economist" asserts that Victoria is suffering from a financial crisis, that the export of gold has diminished, and that the management of the Treasury is reckless and incapable and would not be tolerated in any private firm. It says that the dwindled - surplus, and the deficit in the railway revenue prove that the public works of the colony are unproductive.
