Mount Hutt Road Board.

The adjourned meeting of the above Board was held on Monday, March 31st. Present -Messrs Wm. McMillan (Chairman), I). Cnmcron and J.^Hibbs^-The ininui.e.i of ilie last- mooting were re*ad.and toiiiiniidd, and iKo Clerk's report read and considered. The Clerk was authorised to get repairs made to the Alford Forest road, the West Coast road, and the cutting near Mr A. Orr's; also to call for tenders for levelling road and removing boulders on o-oad to Pudding Hill dam, and for repairs on the Chertsey Road. It was resolved that the price to be paid for shingle by the Board in future should not exceed one penny per cubic yard. It was decided to shingle the Lauriston-Winchmore road aa far as the boundary of the district, to procure timber for the necessary repairs to culverts, and to procure a copy of the Brand book.

Correspondence was read from J. Holmes Esq. asking permission to take a water race across certain roads. —Granted on the usual conditions. From the Ashhurton County Council re subsidyreceived from the Treasury, covering rates on Crown lands received from the Commissioner of Crown. Lands.—The Clerk was directed to forward the required information. From Mr Alexander re cattle on the roads.—Mr Alexander was referred to sections 16 and, 17 of the Impounding Act. * ' • .

Accounts amountins *° 6s were passed for payment. Messrs McMillan and Jackson are the re tiring "members for the year. Monday, May sth, was appointed for the annual meeting and lor the election of members.
