St. John's, March 29.
An immense meeting was held here to I protest against foreign encroachment on Newfoundland fisheries. Delegates were appointed to proceed to London and insist . on the French fishermen being excluded. The American flag was displayed amid cheering. • London, March 29. Sir J. Fergusson, in reply to a question in the House of Commons, said he was hopeful the popular agitation in Newfoundland would be allayed when the terms of the temporary arrangement were made known.
